Watch the video: The Athlete’s Mindset: Self-talk

Let's discuss self-talk. The way you speak to yourself can make all the difference in your athletic performance. If you put yourself down, you're just putting yourself in a position to fail. The good news is you can flip the script in two easy steps.

Step one, recognize when you're thinking negatively. Thoughts like, "I can't do this."

Step two, replace that negative thought with a positive affirmation, like, "I've worked hard. I've got this."

Remember, positive self-talk takes practice just like any other skill in sports. So, start today. Be kind to yourself, encourage yourself and watch how your game improves.

Keep pushing forward.
