Donna Ruby honored with Indiana Hospital Association’s Administrative Professional Excellence Award

COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. – July 22, 2025 – Donna Ruby, executive assistant for Parkview Whitley Hospital and Parkview Kosciusko Hospital, was honored Thursday with the Indiana Hospital Association (IHA) Administrative Professional Excellence Award. Donna Ruby IHA award

The annual award recognizes one outstanding support staff member at an IHA member hospital. The award was established in 2014 and honors the legacy of Mikell Brown, who served for 25 years as an administrative assistant in education and communication for the IHA.

Ruby has worked at Parkview for 34 years. Throughout that time, she has supported hospital presidents at Parkview Whitley Hospital. Her role has expanded in recent years since the opening of Parkview Kosciusko Hospital and the expansion of the system’s northwest market.

“Donna’s always one step ahead of us and always willing to do whatever is asked,” said Scott Gabriel, market president, Parkview Health Northwest. “Not only is she an incredible partner assisting me in my day-to-day, but she’s long been a champion for all of her co-workers at Parkview Whitley and Parkview Kosciusko hospitals. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this prestigious statewide award.”

Aside from assisting Gabriel and Vice President of Patient Services Ashley Wirges, Ruby serves as the point of contact for the northwest market’s DAISY award nominations and helps plan and execute special events for observances such as Nurses Week and Hospital Week.

Parkview employs nearly 500 co-workers at its hospitals in Columbia City and Warsaw as well as multiple physician offices across the northwest market, which include Whitley, Kosciusko, Elkhart, Marshall and Fulton counties.
