You should see a urologist if you:
- Have blood in your urine (hematuria)
- Experience urinary incontinence
- Recently had an elevated PSA test (indicator of prostate cancer)
- Have problems associated with urination
- Have had problems with kidney stones
- Have had an abnormal prostate exam
- Experience a kidney abnormality
- Are experiencing infertility (for any reason)
- Have a testicular mass or pain
- Have recurrent urinary tract infections (UTI)
During your first appointment you will need to bring your:
- Insurance card
- Driver’s license or other state/federally issued identification
- A list of your medications
- Any paper work that you received in the mail from the doctor before your appointment
You may have a physical to help your specialist gain a better understanding of the problems you have been experiencing. Your specialist will also ask you many questions about:
- Your symptoms
- Past or recent illnesses
- Surgeries that you may have had in the past so that the specialist can better understand your needs
