Sleep Labs

Parkview Sleep Labs offer patients a welcoming and comfortable environment for their in-lab sleep studies, as well as comprehensive in-home sleep study options. Our sleep labs are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and offer specialized services for adults and pediatric patients.

At Parkview Sleep Labs, our lab technicians will work with you and your referring provider to ensure you’re getting the care and testing that meets your needs.

Sleep lab referrals

Contact your primary care provider for a referral to Parkview Sleep Labs. If you need to establish care with a primary care provider, view providers that are currently accepting new patients.

Home sleep studies

Home sleep studies may be completed in the comfort of your own home. Wherever you live in northeast Indiana, the staff at a Parkview facility can provide a device and instruction for a home sleep study. If you are referred for a home study, you will use the device and return it the next morning. Your physician will determine which sleep study fits your need.

Estimates for testing

For your convenience, an estimate of your out-of-pocket cost for your scheduled procedure will be provided during the pre-registration process. This estimate is based on the average charges for the procedure and your available insurance benefits at the time the estimate is prepared. If you have questions about assistance that may be available for payment of your procedure during the pre-registration process, call 260-266-7500. Scheduling a home sleep study

You will receive a call from our sleep lab within three business days of being referred to schedule a time to pick up your home sleep study equipment. It is helpful to choose your preferred sleep lab location prior to this call.

Results

The morning after your study, return the equipment back to sleep lab within the prearranged timeframe. You will receive a phone call with the results of your sleep study within two to three weeks. For more information, contact the Parkview Sleep Disorders Center at 260-373-YAWN (9296).

In-lab sleep studies

A sleep study can be completed during an overnight hospital stay in a comfortable, private room equipped to monitor adults, children and infants.

Scheduling an in-lab sleep study

You will receive a call from our sleep lab within three business days of being referred to schedule your overnight in-lab sleep study. It is helpful to choose your preferred sleep lab location and to have your availability close at hand prior to this call. In-lab sleep study patients typically arrive after dinner and leave around 6 a.m.. If this conflicts with your work schedule, let us know and we will try our best to accommodate. Children younger than 18 are required to have a parent or guardian present during their study.

Results

Frequently asked questions about in-lab sleep studies

Do I need a physician referral for a sleep study?

You must have a physician’s referral for a sleep study. If you do not have a primary care provider and would like help finding one near you, call 1-877-PPG-TODAY (774-8632).

What is an in-lab sleep study?

Small pads or patches called electrodes will be placed on your head and body with a small amount of paste and tape. These will record things like brain activity, eye movement, oxygen levels and snoring. Soft elastic belts will be placed around your chest and abdomen to measure your breathing. Your blood oxygen levels will be checked by a small clip (oximeter) placed on the tip of your index finger. If you have sleep apnea, you may wear a mask that is connected to a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine.

How does having a sleep study feel?

You will not feel pain during these tests. It may feel odd to be hooked to the sleep study equipment. The sleep lab technician understands that your sleep may not be the same as it is at home because of the equipment. Try to relax and make yourself as comfortable as possible.

What happens after a sleep study?

You can resume usual activities after the study. Call your provider with any concerns.

When will I receive results from my sleep study?

The results of your sleep study should be available within 2 to 3 weeks. The sleep lab technician will not be able to review the results with you. Your sleep study will be read by a sleep specialist. You should receive a call from the sleep specialist office or your provider to discuss results and recommendations.
